Paul Meyer
first studied in Alsace, then in the Conservatoire
Supérieur de Musique de Paris and in the "
Musikhochschule " of Basle. He made his first concert as
soloist with the Symphonic Orchestra of the Rhine at the
age of thirteen. He begun its soloist carrier after
having won, with seventeen, the Eurovision Competition
of Young French Musicians, and two years later, he won
the prestigious Young Concert Artists Competition de New
York.
Paul Meyer has gained international soloist renown. He
regularly plays with the most famous soloists: Maria
Joao Pirès, Jean-Pierre Rampal, Mstislav Rostropovich,
Tabea Zimmermann, Youri Bashmet, François-René, Duchable,
Yo-Yo Ma... He took part to numerous international
festivals as Lockenhaus, Montreux, Evian, Gstaadt,
Schubertiades de Feldkirch, Schleswig-Holstein... He
played in the United States, in Asia, and in Australia
and played with most of the European orchestras
conducted by Günther Herbig, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Yehudi
Menuhin, Kent Nagano, David Zinman, Dennis Russel Davies...
Paul Meyer interpretes several contemporary works of
composers such as Penderecki, Berio and Kühr who
dedicated him concertos. His passion for chamber music
allowed him to play quartets such as Emerson, Hagen,
Cherubini, Melos and Cleveland.
Paul Meyer is more and more interested to be an
orchestral conductor. He for instance has conducted the
Chamber Orchestra of Munich, the English Chamber
Orchestra and the Symphonic orchestra of Taipei.
Paul Meyer recorded about fifteen CDs by Denon, Erato,
Sony, and EMI and BMG RCA Red Seal. His recordings have
won several awards as Diapason d'Or, Choc du Monde de la
Musique, Stern des Monats (Fono Forum), Prix de la
révélation musicale... |
